CASA GRANDE, AZ - Department of Public Safety officials said one of their officers was injured after his patrol car collided with an SUV Monday afternoon.
Casa Grande police spokesman Thomas Anderson said the accident happened on Pinal Avenue and Hopi Drive around 1:30 p.m.
Anderson said the officer was traveling southbound on Pinal Avenue when a white SUV tried to turn westbound onto Hopi Drive and turned directly in front of the officer's cruiser.
The 19-year-old driver of the SUV was taken to a Casa Grande hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
The officer was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix with non life-threatening injuries.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves said the officer has some broken bones, but is expected to be okay.
