An 8-week-old puppy who got caught in a cactus near 7th Avenue and Dobbins Road in Phoenix last week has a new home. Cactus Jack, as the puppy has become known, visited ABC15 on Thursday.
Vets checked for any damage to his eyes and also prescribed medication to make sure the wounds don't become infected .
A drawing was held to adopt Cactus Jack Thursday morning where Sara Messerschmidt was chosen as his new mom. Messerschmidt said she had just moved to Phoenix from Colorado in February.

Cactus Jack was covered in cactus spines when he was found. The Arizona Humane Society said someone found the puppy after hearing him crying.
