Young bride-to-be killed on car ride to her bachelorette party shortly after selfie with friend

BALDWIN CITY, KS - A young bride-to-be was killed on the way to her bachelorette party last Friday.

As 26-year-old Collette Moreno rode with her friend Ashley Theobald, who was driving, they tried to pass a large truck and found themselves in the path of on-coming traffic in Missouri.

They swerved but not before their Chevrolet Malibu was sideswiped by a Dodge Ram, causing them to crash.

Theobald walked away with minor injuries but Moreno died at the hospital. Both women were wearing their seatbelts.

“I was talking to her. She couldn’t talk back but she was nodding at me,” Theobald said.

In addition to her fiancée Jesse Arcobasso , Moreno leaves behind a 5-year-old son, Braden.

"He doesn't quite understand everything just yet," Arcobasso said of Braden . "I know it's going to take time."

Eight minutes before the crash, Moreno took a selfie of herself and Theobald.

A memorial fund has been established to help the family provide for Braden .
