VIDEO: Semi careens out of control, hits gas station pump

AKRON, Ohio - A tractor-trailer driver and his passenger escaped serious injury when their vehicle careened down an Ohio freeway off-ramp, tipped over on its side and slid into a gas station gas pump.

The accident happened Thursday in Akron, Ohio.

The 35-year-old driver reportedly told police the load shifted as he tried to make a left turn, throwing the rig onto its side.

Surveillance video from the gas station shows the truck passing between two vehicles before the crash.

An SUV stopped at the light suffered extensive damage but the driver wasn't hurt.

Surveillance video shows the reaction of the employees as they grasp what's just happened.

Outside the store, a woman is seen jumping from a van parked at another gas pump and running to help the people in the semi.

She tore out the windshield and helped the female passenger get out of the cab, while the driver got out on his own.

The passenger was the only one hurt, cutting her bare feet on the broken glass.
