There's Always A Catch

The promotion comes with some catches.

For starters, Target and Walmart already offer free shipping this year, so you can get that any time till Christmas.

Amazon offers free shipping to Prime members anytime, as well.

Meantime, the consumer site DealNews.com says Free Shipping Day could be a bust for many shoppers.

It says this is not Black Friday, and says you should not assume you are finding a great deal. You will not find big screen TV's slashed by hundreds of dollars, for instance.

In addition, it warns you to watch for minimum purchases to qualify for free shipping. Some stores are offering free shipping only if you buy $30 or $50 worth of merchandise.

That makes you spend more than you had planned to.

As always, don't waste your money.
