Teens injured after falling off carnival ride in Texas

EL PASO, TX - A carnival ride accident sent two teenagers to the hospital Sunday night.

Authorities say they fell more than 12 feet off a ride at the Saint Anthony Seminary's Annual Bazaar in El Paso, Texas.

A witness describes what she saw.

"I was standing right by the ride when it happened. And I heard a loud thump noise and a bunch of people screaming. And when I turned around there was a body right there on the floor. I didn't notice the second body until later, but it was a woman and she was laying there motionless. There was a lot of chaos and panic because a lot kids running around, a lot of families," said Michaela Roman.

The El Paso Times reports one teen was seriously injured and one had minor injuries.

Witnesses told local television station KTSM the ride operator failed to shut the ride's door.

The El Paso Police's Crimes Against Children unit is investigating.
