Summer produce a good bet for spending less heading into autumn

Summer produce remains in season with fresh fruits and vegetables as a great way to save money on food, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Fruits such as berries, kiwifruit and apricots are in season, while veggies such as beets, eggplant and zucchini provide plenty of low-cost nutrition to make meals a little better and the grocery bill a little lighter.
