Some Corona Extra bottles recalled due to defect, glass particles possible found in bottles

CHICAGO - Select packages of Corona Extra are being recalled because they may contain small glass particles, Constellation Brands announced last week.

In a voluntary recall, Constellation Brands beer Division said only the 12-ounce clear bottles in select Corona Extra six-pack, 12-pack and 18-pack packages are being recalled.

A routine inspection noticed a defect in certain bottles that could cause bits of glass to fall into the bottle, the company said in a press release. It is believed that less than 1 percent of the bottles produced are affected.

Specific packages and production codes are affected by the recall. A list of those codes can be found on the company's website, here .

The following brands are not being recalled: Corona Extra cans, 24-pack loose bottles, Corona Extra 23 oz. bottles, Corona Extra draft, Corona Light products, and Coronitas.

“We are troubled by this development and are working proactively with our distributors, retailers and consumers to resolve this situation as quickly as possible,” said Bill Hackett, President of Constellation Brands Beer Division, in a statement posted online.
