Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting: Police say gunman forced his way into school

NEWTOWN, CT - Connecticut State Police say a gunman who massacred 26 children and adults at an elementary school before committing suicide forced his way into the building.

Lt. Paul Vance said Saturday morning that the suspect was not voluntarily let into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton.

Authorities say 20-year-old Adam Lanza shot his mother on Friday, drove her car to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, and shot 20 children, six adults and himself.

CNN reports that evidence has been recovered that could shed light on the motive for the shooting.

CNN also reports that the medical examiner has positively identified all the victims and is expected to release the names within hours.

The investigation at the crime scene is not expected to be completed for at least another day or more.
