San Diego fires update: 5 San Diego-area fires fully contained, man arrested in 1 fire

SAN DIEGO - San Diego County officials say five wildfires have been 100 percent contained.

County officials said Friday that firefighters also had 90 percent containment of the week's first big fire, which erupted Tuesday in the community of Rancho Bernardo.

Crews were focusing efforts on two large fires -- one in the city of San Marcos and two blazes at the Marine Corps' Camp Pendleton.

The San Marcos fire burned more than 3,000 acres and forced thousands from their homes. The two Pendleton fires have burned more than 14,000 acres of military lands.

Also on Friday, CNN reports that San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis announced the the first arson charge filed in the spate of fires.

At a press conference, the prosecutor identified the man as Alberto Serrato.

Serrato is accused of adding brush to an existing fire. Reportedly witnesses saw him doing it and called police.
