OKLAHOMA CITY - A massive tornado tore through parts of Oklahoma Monday, leveling neighborhoods and leaving young children trapped inside their schools.
Video footage from Moore, Okla. and Oklahoma City showed the funnel reaching the ground and later growing to a width of about one mile.

The same area was hit hard by a tornado in 1999. That storm had the highest winds ever recorded near the earth's surface, at 302 miles per hour.
