New border rail hub to open in New Mexico

SANTA TERESA, NM - A sprawling railroad hub along the U.S.-Mexico border is officially opening Wednesday in New Mexico.

The $400 million rail hub is being hailed for creating jobs and boosting foreign trade in the border town of Santa Teresa.

The facility spans 2,200 acres and also includes fueling facilities and crew-change buildings.

Construction began in 2011. Union Pacific says dignitaries scheduled to participate in the event include New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and U.S. Sens. Martin Heinrich and Tom Udall.
