NORTH LOGAN, UT - Officials say police shot a man wielding a gun inside a hospital emergency room in the northern Utah city of North Logan on Friday morning.
Authorities could not say whether there were any other injuries or what caused the shooting at Cache Valley Hospital, located about 85 miles north of Salt Lake City.
Judy Crockett, a spokeswoman for North Park Police, which serves the city of North Logan, confirmed the shooting and said the suspect is in custody, but was not authorized to release further details.
The Cache Valley Hospital says in a statement on its Facebook page that the facility is on lockdown.
Nearby Logan's police chief, Gary Jensen, tells KSL Radio that a man brandished a gun in the emergency room and was shot by police.
Jensen says the suspected gunman survived.
