Levi's CEO: Don't wash your jeans

Maybe it sounds disgusting, but the CEO of Levi's suggests you should not wash your blue jeans.

Wearing a pair of jeans that he said were never washed, CEO Chip Bergh talked about fashion and sustainability at Fortune's Brainstorm Green conference Tuesday.

"These jeans are maybe a year old and these have yet to see a washing machine," he said.

He continued, "You can spot clean it, you can air dry it, it's fine. I've yet to get a skin disease or anything else."

But does anyone else really do that?

Good Morning America asked the question on Twitter and got a lot of responses, including the lead singer of Paramore who says she didn't wash hers all tour long.

Instead of washing the jeans, or just spot cleaning, you could also try eliminating odors by spraying the jeans with white vinegar or alcohol. Freezing the jeans once a month is also said to kill off the smell caused by bacteria.

At least one clothing website also recommends cleaning jeans by wearing them inside out in the shower.
