Grandma ties disabled boy to bus stop in India

A picture of Lakhan Kale tied to a bus stop has sparked outrage from authorities and advocate groups after it was published in a newspaper.

The 9-year-old Indian boy is disabled – he cannot hear or speak, and he has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Officials said his grandmother tied him to the bus stop when she went to work selling toys and flowers by the roadside in Mumbai.

Readers of the Times of India newspaper were angered when pictures of Kale lying helplessly on the ground were published.

He has since been taken to a children’s shelter, ABC News reported.

Authorities were involved in the incident but there is no word on if the boy's grandmother will face any charges.
