Girl writes Governor Mitt Romney, asks him to 'save Big Bird' after presidential debate comment

Big Bird took an unexpected place in the spotlight after Wednesday night's presidential debate in Denver, Colorado.

Thousands of tweets, photos and messages across the internet joked about Governor Mitt Romney's comment on cutting funding to PBS and, in particular, Big Bird and 'Sesame Street.'

It may be a joke for some, but one 8-year-old girl took Romney's comment to heart, pleading him not to get rid of her favorite PBS show.

A Yahoo article quotes a part of the note from the little girl and her concern with potentially losing Big Bird forever.

"I saw you on the debate last night and you said you would cut off PBS kids with Sesame Street on it. It was my favorite show on Earth. But now I'm 8 years old. When I grow up, I'm going to get married and I want my kids to watch it. So do not cut it off. You find something else to cut off! Don't hurt little kids. They need Sesame Street where they can learn from it. Save Big Bird and his friends," she said, according to the article.

Romney has not yet commented on the note, which was sent by the girl's mother.
