KOB-TV reports Elizabeth Johnson asked for permission to live with her grandmother in Albuquerque after she was released last Friday from a state prison west of Phoenix.

A KOB crew tracked Johnson to the grandmother's house this week, but she reportedly refused to answer any questions.

Johnson was given a 5 1/4-year sentence in 2012 for custodial interference and unlawful imprisonment in the 2009 disappearance of her then-8-month-old son, Gabriel.

A jury deadlocked on a kidnapping charge against Johnson, who turns 28 later this month.

Johnson has maintained her story that she gave Gabriel away to a couple in Texas. The baby has never been found.
