Customers angry over Target checkout 'glitch'

PHOENIX - Angry customers took to social media when a “glitch” impacted speed at checkout lines of some Target stores across the U.S.

USA Today reports that the company’s payment systems were down Sunday evening in at least five different states and in New York City.

According to the report, debit card payments were not working at checkout.

Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder told ABC15 Target had identified the issue impacting the speed of checkout at some of its U.S. stores and said it was not related to any security issue.

There was no official word on whether any stores in Arizona were affected. However one ABC15 viewer said in an email that they had trouble checking out at a Queen Creek store, spending 20 minutes on the transaction.

Around 9:30 p.m. Target sent out a message on its Twitter account thanking customers for their patience.
