A woman, with a record of stealing from her husbands, was sentenced to prison for the second time for allegedly stealing from her most recent husband in Scottsdale, according to a Wednesday report.
Jeanie Kay Smith, 42, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on August 13th after being arrested for a string of thefts and identity thefts.
Smith met her husband while she was in prison in Tucson for stealing from her ex-husband, according to reports.
Her husband visited her regularly and they married after she was released from prison in 2006.
Smith is accused of stealing from her new husband and his family, as well as several merchants.
She was also accused of multiple identity thefts to fund a spending spree that topped $250,000, which included a new car.
Smith pled guilty to taking the identity of another, a class 4 felony; fraudulent schemes, a class 2 felony, with one prior felony conviction; theft, a class 2 felony; and theft of means of transportation, a class 3 felony, with one prior felony conviction on July 7th.
County Attorney Thomas stated, "Anyone thinking about marrying this defendant would be well advised to consult her rap sheet before taking the plunge."
