Valley 99 Cent Only Stores are changing their prices voiding their use of the slogan of "Nothing Over 99 Cents, Ever."

The stores, known for their cheap prices, are raising prices on some items as a result of the sluggish economy, according to a report by KNBC's Doug Kriegel.

The 26-year-old business, based out of Los Angeles, reportedly lost about $1.5 million last quarter.

While the change leaves some customers disappointed, the chain's president, Jeff Gold, says the stores will still have great products at great prices and believes the customers will understand.

There are 24 stores in Arizona. Find the store locations here.
