MESA, AZ -- A businessman and motivational speaker brutally murdered in the East Valley had posed nude in his shower just moments before he was killed, according to a police report just released.
The body of Travis Alexander, 30, was discovered at his home in June, his body "well into the decomposition process," according to the Mesa report.
He had been stabbed 27 times, his throat cut ear to ear. He had also been shot in the head, police said.
According to the report, investigators discovered a camera in the home which contained photos of Alexander nude, and moments later, "bleeding profusely" on his bathroom floor.
That same camera contained pictures of Alexander's ex-girlfriend, Jodi Arias, 28, posing nude on a bed the afternoon of his death.
Authorities were able to recover the camera from a washing machine. The camera was damaged, but a memory card inside was apparently intact.
Police said they tied Arias to the murder after discovering DNA evidence. She was extradited from California last week, and now faces a first-degree murder charge. She is being held on a $2 million bond.
Police also discovered a palm print and hair belonging to Arias in the home, according to the report.
Investigators said the evidence placed her in the home around the time of the crime.
Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas has said he will seek the death penalty in this case.
