In the middle of this sluggish economy, feeding a family can be a costly and difficult task.

Searching for a restaurant meal at an affordable price is often a tough obstacle for cash-strapped parents.

"We just try to find something that's not going to break the bank and at least give me a break at home from having to cook," said Melinda Olierdo while sitting next to her two children.

She's not alone. The Remmert family spends a few extra minutes looking for deals at local restaurants before leaving the house.

"You really have to look for how much food you can get for your buck and good food at that for my three children," said Rochelle Remmert.

Typically, the two families look for kids menus or restaurants offering deals for children.

"It's not often we go out to eat anymore, so when we choose a place to eat, it needs to be good food, and come at an affordable price," said Remmert.

Many families don't realize their children can virtually eat for free every night of the week.

That's because many Valley restaurants offer "kids eat for free" nights.

For the restaurants, it's a way to get adults in the door and spend money.

For parents, the deals are attractive and effective.

"The kids feel special because they get a free meal, a good meal, and the parents like it because we welcome families," said Samuel Wellington, a manager of Moe's Restaurant in Tempe.

The money-saving website coupon divas lists every restaurant that offers "kids eat for free" menus.

The eateries are broken down by day of the week and the deal offered.

"I had no idea this stuff is out there, I'm going to go home and check on it immediately," said Olierdo while sitting at the table inside Moe's.

Olierdo went to Moe's because the restaurant was offering a free meal for children when an adult purchased a meal.

"This listing is great, because if Friday is too hectic or Saturday or Sunday, and we need to get a quick bite and save money now we know which places to go for less money," said Remmert.

"It's the word of mouth of quality and kids eat free menus that help us survive in a struggling economy, the menu helps us and it helps our customers, we like it," said Wellington while preparing a meal for a customer.
