A vehicle driving in the wrong direction was able to correct itself while on U.S. 60 and Jomax Road according to officials.

The vehicle was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 around 1:17 a.m. The driver was able to correct himself; Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers came into contact with the driver of the white vehicle near U.S. 60 and State Route 303.

The driver was able to avoid colliding with other drivers in the area. DPS said the driver was "sleepy, out of state" at the time.

It's unclear if any citations were given. Impairment does not appear to have played a factor.

Sunday's early morning wrong-way incident ended differently than several other wrong-way crashes that have been recently occurring on Valley freeways.

DPS had originally said the wrong-way occurred on U.S. 60 near Alma School Road.
