SULPHUR, LA - A Louisiana man went toe-to-toe with an 11-foot alligator and now has war wounds to prove it.
"I've always been the kind of guy to learn the hard way."
And Glen Bonin's latest lesson, left 80 stitches in one hand.
"Hopefully with therapy I'll be able to straighten out my ring finger and pinky a little bit.
Leaving him with an unforgettable story to tell.
In retrospect, Bonin can laugh about it now when watching the video of his encounter with an 11 foot alligator on Prater Road just south of Sulphur, Louisiana.
"We took our shirts off, threw it on his face, and we were going to come from behind it and jump on it and in the process of doing that, it spun around and grabbed my hand seconds before we jumped on it," said Bonin.
"It felt like someone was pulling my arm out. I thought I was about to lose something. It felt like it lasted forever. When it happened it was a split second, but it really wasn't. It felt like it lasted a long time."
Bonin admits it was a bit of liquid courage that made him think he could move the gator but the somewhat graphic pictures of the aftermath show, liquid courage was no match for this beast.
