PHOENIX - Would you believe Phoenix is set to become one of the "most walkable" cities in the nation in the near future?
A new study says we'll be joining the ranks of Boston, New York City and Washington D.C., after previously ranking among the "least walkable" spots around the country.
According to Time, new development plans have helped boost "walkability" scores for cities previously known for traffic and suburban sprawl -- like Phoenix and Miami.
Other cities that are soon expected to shoot up into the Top 15 large walkable urban places, are Denver, Detroit and Tampa, replacing spots like Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Cleveland.
These future rankings are based on what cities plan to invest in, like public transportation and commercial clusters. Current walkable scores are based on the proximity of homes to shopping, restaurants and work which are important things to buyers.
