A group of researchers has developed a map that shows how discriminatory a given county is based on the number of insulting tweets sent from that area.
The "Geography of Hate" map tracks tweets that insult homosexuals, particular races and the disabled by searching for certain key words like "queer," "wetback" and "cripple."
Using geolocation, it pinpoints the county it was sent from and compiles the information into a heat map.
It's a project by Humboldt State University professor Monica Stephens and her students.
The map is composed of more than 150,000 tweets using hateful language.
