PHOENIX - Fibromyalgia is a disease that is often misdiagnosed and misunderstood.
Both men and women suffer from the symptoms which include flu-like symptoms, with pain, fatigue, headaches and even hair loss.
Dr. Kenneth Muhich said most of the time patients will be misdiagnosed because doctors are looking at individual symptoms, not all the symptoms together.
Muhich, CEO of Fibromyalgia Wellness Center, says the disease has a genetic marker and can be triggered by some physical, emotional or chemical trauma.
In his clinic, Muhich treats patients with heavy doses of Omega-3 and other supplements, put the patient through a reduced hypoglycemic diet, and then they do “mapping” which checks for the “lumps and bumps” throughout the patient to help determine whether or not they are improving.
There are informational talks held every Wednesday starting at 5:30 p.m. You can learn more by calling 480-948-4955 or going to the Fibromyalgia Wellness Center website .
