GILBERT, AZ - People living at a Gilbert apartment complex have become victims of at least nine vehicle burglaries, according to Gilbert police.
Most of the vehicles that were vandalized and broken into at the complex, located near Recker and Warner roads, were left unlocked but a few had busted windows and tires slashed.
The thieves, described as two or three juveniles ages 16 or 17, rummage through the cars and take items of value, police said.
A resident of the complex and victim of the crimes says she saw the suspects running from the scene but could not get them to stop, according to officials.
One resident claims that incidents like this happen a lot in the area.
"I'd say they're cowards," said Ronald Fry. All four of his car's tires were slashed.
"I mean really, to come and do something like this to somebody who's innocent. Karma is something I believe in. It's gonna come around some day," he said.
