American astronauts get heads shaved after U.S. World Cup loss to Germany

Even astronauts in space are getting into the World Cup spirit.

ABC News reports that two American astronauts made a bet with a German astronaut about the outcome of the game pitting the U.S. against Germany, they would both shave their heads.

Well, even though the U.S. team survived the group stage, they lost to the Germans 1-0.

American astronauts Steve Swanson and Reid Wiseman are seen in a video released by NASA getting their heads shaved by German astronaut Alexander Gerst.

The next day Wiseman tweeted about waking up to his lack of hair.

A member of the Houston Flight Control pointed out that “baldness is more aerodynamic when flying,” according to the report.
