HANOI, Vietnam - Vietnam police seized 53 king cobras from a car in Hanoi on Friday and arrested the driver, The Huffington Post reports.
The driver had been paid to transport the snakes, considered a delicacy by many in Vietnam. However, hunting and trading the snakes is prohibited.
The suspect told police he was paid less than $50 to transport the king cobras, which are the world's longest venomous snake and can grow to 18 feet.
Police reportedly took the snakes to a local wildlife rescue so the snakes could receive medical treatment before being released into the wild.
