They came into this world together -- and one half of this set of twins wouldn't finish a big race without her sister, either.
As ABC affiliate WQAD.com reports, 13-year-old Claire Gruenke carried her injured twin sister, Chloe, so they could both finish the last half of an 800-meter race at the Southern Illinois Track Meet this past Saturday.
The 7th graders from Wesclin Middle School in Trenton, Ill., were in the middle of the race when Chloe said she felt something pull and pop in her thigh. She fell to the ground and couldn't go on.
That's when Claire stepped in.
Claire put her twin on her back and they finished the last 370 meters of the race together.
“It’s about showing compassion, love and sportsmanship, even if you lose and help somebody it’s still worth it,” Claire told station KTVI. “The energy from the crowd made me stronger.”
