Phoenix Police Department's 'Supervisor of the Year' under internal investigation

PHOENIX - The ABC15 Investigators have learned that a Phoenix police lieutenant who just received the department’s “Supervisor of the Year Award” has been placed under internal investigation.

Lt. Chris Moore, a resource lieutenant at the South Mountain Precinct, has been a sworn officer with the department since 1991.

Multiple sources said Moore was pulled off the job after a probe was launched due to financial questions surrounding unauthorized pay at his precinct.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump confirmed the investigation and released a short statement: “(Moore) has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation into precinct expenditures. No additional information will be released until the investigation is complete. "

Crump also said he does not believe any other officers are involved.

Last Friday, a Phoenix Police internal newsletter announced that Moore would receive the “Supervisor of the Year Award” during a ceremony on October 14.

Moore did not respond to a request for comment.
