What Would Joe Do? How to stop constant telemarketing calls

Telemarketers; we all get the calls. But what if you got them every day, from the same people, for years on end?

What would you do?

After meeting Joe Hopper and hearing from a lot of you about "Rachel from Cardholder Services," I took this question to the streets at Tempe Marketplace.

It's a hard question to answer. Most of you said you would just hang up! But, what if the calls kept coming?

Some of you said you would change your number and a few even said, "there's an app for that!"

Here's one that a viewer showed me recently: Extreme Call Blocker .

In the end, these calls are very hard to stop. But, I think it's worth being on the Do Not Call Registry to stop some of them.

You should also report these calls, especially illegal robocalls, to the authorities. You can report it to the FTC or the Arizona Attorney General . If they get enough complaints about one thing, like "Rachel from Cardholder Services," they sometimes take action.

And keep the phone number they called from and try to ask what company is making the calls, if you get ahold of a person. Report that information to authorities as well.

Also, don't answer calls from unknown numbers. And use call blocking devices and talk to your phone company about blocking specific numbers. On your cell phone, there are apps that do this.
