Do you want to make money by shopping and making phone calls in the Valley? It can happen if you know the right places to find secret/mystery shopper jobs and how to avoid scammers.
Michael Miller said he's got more than 100 jobs a month as CEO of Primo Solutions. The company can pay from $14 to $100 depending on what you do.
His clients are adult living facilities and he uses mystery shoppers to test customer service undercover. The shoppers then fill out a report of what they found, which helps the business provide improved services.
Miller is a member of the Mystery Shopper Provider's Association. On its website, ABC15 found 100 jobs within a few miles of the station, paying up to $140. Some of the jobs require you to purchase items, for which you will be reimbursed.
But secret shopper jobs are also a huge area for scammers trying to lure you with easy money. The scammers usually target people with online resumes.
The scammer normally sends a big check and asks that you send part of it to other people. The victim later finds out that the check is fake and that their money is gone.
Miller said if someone asks for money or gives you money upfront, it's a scam.
