HOA limits American flag display in community

It's a day to remember all who died in service to our country, and some of us display the American flag to show our gratitude for the sacrifice many made.

So, it really bugs me when I hear people complain their HOA won't allow their flag to fly.

Kathy tells me she put a flag in her yard "then got a notice from the architectural control committee. I needed approval. I read the CC and R's and it said flags are not permitted in the front yard. I submitted my claim and they denied it. I think this is very un-American."

Kathy I do too. It reminds me of the HOA that threatened another woman with legal action. She just wanted her flag to be moved about 4 feet so more people could see it. And a different homeowner put three small foot-long flags in a pot to display. Her HOA made her remove two of them. They had a one flag rule.

I understand the purpose of HOA's. But c'mon. It's the American flag! As long as its displayed with respect, it should be allowed anywhere on your property. HOA's...keep your hands off!
