We all hear that you're supposed to get to the airport more than an hour before a flight. But do you ever actually show up that early?

Kevin Garrison says he tried. He bought tickets on Frontier airlines, which has a policy that passengers must check in 45 minutes before the flight.

Kevin said he was two minutes late, and wasn't allowed on the flight. He said he was only offered something the next day.

Frontier said the policy is clearly stated and that it keeps planes on time.

All airlines have check-in time requirements before flights. We checked United Airlines and found that theirs is 45 minutes with bags and 30 minutes without bags.

On Southwest, you must have a boarding pass and be ready to travel 10 minutes before the flight or they can cancel your space.

Make sure to always check-in online well before your flight. Most airlines allow it 24 hours before the flight. Also allow for that extra time getting to the airport.
