A Tempe woman is accused of trying to extort money from a married man she allegedly had sex with.

Court records show that 34-year-old Ashley Dawn Kelly had sex with a married man in his Scottsdale home and later contacted him via text message demanding $5,000 or she would "confess her sins" to his wife.

Police said in documents Kelly reportedly went on a long rant about her financial troubles saying in part, "I literally haven't made a penny in a month. This is why I'm doing this. My pastor said one I do this God will start blessing me again and I'll be able to provide for my family again."

The woman allegedly told the victim she saved the emails and text messages from their encounter. She told the man that he could settle up by purchasing $5,000 worth of furniture from her store.

Police said as the victim was reporting the situation to police, Kelly called his phone. She reportedly spoke to the office and admitted to threatening the victim unless he paid her.

She was charged with extortion on Nov. 16. Her next court date is scheduled for Jan. 5, 2017. A mug shot was not available.
