An Avondale man swings an ax at his ex-girlfriend before attempting to burn down her home.

Avondale police report that on April 7 they were called to a home near Litchfield and Lower Buckeye roads for a man with an ax, pouring gasoline on a mobile home.

Police talked with the victim who said her ex-boyfriend, 35-year-old Edmund Moran, attacked her with an ax and poured gasoline on her front porch area, but did not ignite it.

She relayed to police that she and Moran broke up the day before when Moran accused her of cheating on him and threatened to, "burn the trailer down, to teach her a lesson."

Before pouring the gasoline, Moran reportedly confronted her when she was on her bicycle, swinging an ax at her, and hitting the bike.

Moran was found a short distance from the home. He has been charged with aggravated assault and attempted arson.
