A north Phoenix man is accused of using a social media smartphone app to lure teenagers for sex.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says 21-year-old Joseph Powers Kokron posed as a 19-year-old to get access to a social media app that is designed for teens.

MCSO says in September, he made contact with a young teenage girl and convinced her to sneak out of her home for sex. The girl also reportedly sent sexually explicit photos of herself to Kokron.

The victim introduced another girl in her early teens to Kokron through the app. Kokron allegedly expressed a desire to have sex with both girls, authorities said.

Investigators reviewed Kokron’s social media page and used the information they found to identify him as the suspect. He was arrested on Thursday near 35th Avenue and Greenway Road.

When he was arrested, there was another minor girl in the car with him. He also allegedly admitted to having sex with her.

Kokron is being held on a $100,000 bond on various charges of sexual conduct with a minor.
