A man is accused of burglarizing several vacant homes in the Scottsdale and Paradise Valley areas.

Scottsdale Police report that multiple homes that were either under construction, being remodeled, or for sale, have been burglarized over the past few months.

A fingerprint left behind in one of the crimes has been linked to 51-year-old Michael Anthony Riley, a man convicted of burglaries seven times.

Police say surveillance teams watched as Riley took appliances out of a garage in Paradise Valley and another home in Scottsdale. In total, police say, Riley took about $5,000 in appliances and home fixtures.

Riley was arrested on July 21 near 16th Street and Dunlap Avenue.

Police report that there has been a large increase in residential burglaries in homes that are vacant.

Scottsdale and Paradise Valley Police are looking into whether Riley is connected to any other crimes in the Valley.

He has been charged with multiple counts of burglary.
