A man is accused of speeding through Mesa at 70 miles per hour on his rims.

Mesa police report that on December 5, a car was creating sparks on the road by speeding without tires near Val Vista and McDowell roads.

A Mesa police helicopter watched as the vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Casey Charles Strouse, ran a red light as it crossed Loop 202, collided with a brick wall and went 20-feet into a ravine.

Police would later learn that Strouse stole the vehicle and a rifle from his roommate after an argument.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI, criminal damage, leaving the scene of an accident and multiple civil traffic violations.
