Phoenix police say they arrested a man in Laveen for threatening to stab firefighters as they were putting out a brush fire.
Police say that on Monday the Phoenix Fire Department was responding to a brush fire near 51st and Southern avenues. As they were putting the fire out, 48-year-old Donny Joseph Rice reportedly approached them with knives in his hands, threatening to stab them if they didn't leave.
When police arrived, Rice was carrying a saw and two long knives and yelling at police to shoot him.
As Rice was trying to leave on a bicycle, police used a Tazer on him and took him into custody.
Rice was arrested for aggravated assault and arson.
