A man is accused of threatening a grocery store manager with a "short sword" during an alcohol theft in north Phoenix.

Phoenix police report that on September 15 a man, later identified as 25-year-old Day Day Poe, stole a bottle of whiskey from a Fry's food store near 19th and Glendale avenues.

When Poe was confronted by a store manager, he allegedly revealed that he was carrying a 15-inch "short sword."

The manager backed away from Poe who then ran out of the store.

Employees told police that Poe is known to them "as he shoplifts the Fry's store on a regular basis."

Police located Poe the next morning, still in possession of the white handled sword. He reportedly admitted to police that he took the alcohol, but denied threatening anyone.

Poe was arrested for armed robbery.
