A Youngtown man is arrested after a small dog suffered several injuries after being thrown against a concrete floor.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office says yesterday they arrested 19-year-old Hector Raul Lugo for cruelty to animals after he allegedly threw a dog against the concrete floor.

A veterinarian alerted MCSO after Hazel, a brown Yorkshire terrier, was brought in with blood in her eyes and four missing teeth.

Lugo reportedly admitted that he was upset after a bad day at work and threw hazel on the floor after she refused to go to the bathroom.

Lugo brought Hazel to the veterinarian the next day when "she still wasn't acting right."

MCSO says Hazel, who was given antibiotics and steroids, is doing better and was released after five days in the hospital.
