Residents of a north Phoenix apartment complex captured a man who was allegedly exposing himself to young children in the pool area.

Court records show that on the night of June 11 a man exposed himself to two children, ages 5 and 7, before being captured by two residents of the complex.

Police report 20-year-old Juan Jose Pina Sandoval was in the pool at an apartment complex near Cave Creek Road and Union Hills Drive. In the adjacent hot tub were two girls ages 5 and 7. The mother of one of the girls was sitting poolside watching the girls.

Sandoval allegedly positioned himself with his back towards the mother and facing the girls. This is when he reportedly pulled down his underwear exposing himself to the girls.

The mother reported to police that it appeared that Sandoval was playing with his cell phone. When the girls started coming out of the hot tub and moving toward the pool, the mother repositioned herself and was able to see what Sandoval was really doing.

The mother confronted Sandoval, demanding that he leave, but Sandoval stayed in the pool. Two male residents heard the commotion from the exercise area and came over to assist the mother. When Sandoval saw them coming, he gathered his clothes and tried to leave but was caught by the two men.

Police say when they arrived they saw Sandoval, in his underwear, being held to the ground by the two men.

Sandoval has been charged with three counts of public indecency.
