A different kind of robbery happened at a Gilbert 7-eleven store.

Court records reveal an unusual robbery happened on July 29 at a 7-eleven store near Gilbert and Baseline roads.

Gilbert police report that 24-year-old Colt Karasco was upset with his mother and decided to rob the 7-eleven. He entered the store with two steak knives and two hammers on his belt.

When he entered the store, he reportedly told two people and a clerk to leave the store and call the police. When police arrived, he released another clerk. While Karasco was alone in the store, he allegedly broke windows by throwing items through them.

Before walking out of the store and being arrested, Karasco took the $187 he stole and threw it back into the store.

He later told police that he knew they would come and return him to prison.

Korasco has prior convictions for assault and aggravated assault on an officer. This time, he attacked no one, took the money, then returned it, kidnapped people, then let them go.

Karasco returns to jail having been charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.
