Another suspect has been arrested in a nationwide scam where people fly to Arizona from out of state and purchase iPhones, after being fraudulently added to cell phone accounts.

Gilbert police report that on May 22 they arrested 27-year-old Danny Rafael De La Cruz after he bought four iPhones from two AT&T stores in Gilbert. Police say the value of the phones is about $3,400.

Police located and arrested De La Cruz near Gilbert and Germann Roads. After his arrest, De La Cruz, who is from Bronx, New York, reportedly admitted flying to Arizona to steal the phones. He says he's part of an organized ring that travels the country to steal phones and has open cases in two other states.

Police say he was arrested in Pennsylvania for the same crime and is a fugitive of justice in an Ohio case.

Gilbert Police made an arrest two days earlier regarding this same type of crime. ABC15.com first reported yesterday about the arrest of a Detroit man who is also part of a nationwide syndicate who stole phones valued at $8,000.

De La Cruz is expected to be charged with fraudulent schemes, theft, and Identity theft.
