Federal corrections officer accused of luring a minor for sex in Phoenix

An undercover sex operation results in arrest of a federal corrections officer.

Court records show that a Surprise man engaged in an online relationship, where he discussed sexual acts with a girl he believed to be 13 years old.

Police report that on May 10, Cory Douglas Viste, 31, entered an on-line chat room designed for teenagers. There he began a relationship with a girl he believed to be 13 years old. The relationship moved to an instant messaging application and e-mails. 

In over several hundred messages, Viste exchanged with the undercover officer posing as the girl, Viste reportedly discussed skinny dipping and other sexual acts that he wanted to engage in with the 'girl.'

A meeting was allegedly set up on June 16 and when Viste showed up at the location near 12th Street and Bell Road, police nabbed him. 

Police say that, "Viste admitted to coming to meet the girl out of the thrill and stated that he did not intend to actually stop to meet her."

In court paperwork, Viste lists his occupation as a corrections officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. 

He's been charged with attempted sexual conduct with a minor and luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
