A Mesa man allegedly drove at an officer and hit a police car as he tried to flee from officers.

On September 3rd Mesa police got word that there was a man who appeared to be passed out in a car near Baseline and Extension roads.

Court paperwork shows as an officer approached the driver, he woke up and accelerated his truck at the officer who had to hurry out of the way.

The suspect, 30-year-old Aaron Edward Ebersole, reportedly made a U-turn and rammed a police cruiser as he left the scene.

The driver eventually stopped about a mile away on Baseline, between Alma School and Extension roads.

Police say Ebersole was on drugs drugs at the time.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

Ebersole has been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful flight, and DUI.
