Tempe Police assisted DPS in arresting a man doing over 100 MPH on I-10 after a shooting in Casa Grande.

The Department of Public Safety reports that on June 2 around 9:30 a.m., a man reportedly fired a gunshot at a hotel in Casa Grande. They were given an alert to look for a white BMW traveling on Interstate 10. A DPS trooper spotted the car, driven by 26-year-old Adam Rene Urbano of Casa Grande, moving erratically at speeds over 100 miles per hour.

DPS says the car exited the freeway at Baseline Road and crashed into two cars carrying a total of five people. All the injuries were non-life threatening. Urbano was caught by a Tempe police officer who was in the area directing traffic in the area.

DPS says Urbano, who was driving on a suspended license, showed signs of intoxication and continually spit on officers even after he was fitted with a spit mask.

Urbano has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault and endangerment.
